Escaping to Mexico last spring, I was enamored by the colors of summer treats: popsicles, ice cream, cakes, tropical fruit and piles of colored sugar in the markets. Memories of hot summer days cooled by slushies, sodas, sno cones, and the sound of the ice cream truck turning around the corner.

Upon returning from my travels I entered the studio and turned inward. Experimenting with color theory, mixing and the chemical properties of my dyes, I pushed my process to the edge. I broke down single colors into their elemental properties. Half chemist, half baker, I used a variety of different tools to apply the dye and found exciting new forms in the process. I am excited to utilize digital printing for the spring collection, allowing myself the freedom to create unique, extravagant dye processes that bring me one step further in mastering my craft. - Shabd
